Fire safety

Did any of you know how to put off a fire in a proper way?even a small one?

Well, I've seat in one of the talks yesterday, thank God that I've been forced so i gained quite an informative info and knowledge

Fire Categories 

• A- Normal fire : which involve paper, clothes etc (something we can grab/hold)
• B- Oil/Liquid type : glue, aerosol, oil
• C - gas/electrical : switchboard, gas, wire
• D- Metal : heavy fire, metal

Fire Extinguishers Type 

• Foam - do not use to a person
• CO2 - gas type : for BC type of fire
• ABC powder : life span is 1 year

Other info's that we should know

1. maximum life span for a wiring ie : at our house/office is 20 years
2. any fire that involve electrical items, do not use water to put off. we should use the powder type or gas: same goes to any fire that caused by oils
3. if you're stuck in a room with a fire, try your best to get out from there. do not inhale the black smoke as it contains toxin as most cases of death is because of that
4. if you're trap in a room with smoke, try to use back of your palm and place it on the wall. eventually, the wall will guide to the the exit door
5. main cause that creates the fire to be a bigger one is ---> blame the O2 (oxygen)
6. if you're facing a small fire while cooking ie : on your pan, periuk or kuali ; get a wet cloth. ensure there's no water dripping and put on top/cover the small fire. By doing that , oxygen will have no space to go in, so the fire mati la
7. 3 steps to get out from the fire/black smoke ---> stop, drop and roll. Meaning : you stop, drop to the floor and roll your self out from the burned room/place. 
8. while you're holding the fire extinguisher's hose, and trying to put off a fire, the foam/powder will come out in a swing way (right-left) and not really direct to the roots of fire as what we've expected. so hold the hose towards the end. 
9. we can get one for our house/own use the smaller fire extinguisher rather than a normal one you've seen at the office (the blue/red color) as that is 15kg weight. I don't think so that we women can lift that, aren't we? *Ms Loh is selling it at rm399 for the multi-purpose one, it smells good :lemonade. it can be used to any cause of fire. and even you ter-spray to a person, it wont harm. i have to passed :( *

Fire blanket

As per Ms. Loh our instructor, beside than fire extinguisher, we can use fire blanket for our safety. Merely to get our self unburnt.  It's normally been used by the hotel industry, at a kitchen dept. Which they claimed that is the norm place where the fire could started. And best offer of the day : she's selling it at a quite reasonable price: RM99

How to use it ; just cover your self with that blanket. 

To take care of it ; there's a fiber glass for the fire safety on it, so once the blanket has black marked (cause of fire obviously) then it can't be use nemore. If there's a dark brown stain/mark on it, try to contact the supplier (as in the warranty card), they'll come and inspect. Then they will replace you with a new blanket 

There's NO expiry date . just keep it in the plastic bag
