Travel with Kids to HK

his is based on my personal experienced

travel twice to HK while preggy 3mo and with HM when she's 18mo

and both trips were duing their "winter" time, starts end Oct- Feb (no snow only cold weather and winds/rains)

Tips/need to know while travelling to HK

1. bring light stroller - as the crowds are so pack and if you're travelling via MRT, ada banyak sgt staircases from A-B
2. Halal foods is a bit susah, if ada pun at a secluded place. So bring along your kids foods/your own foods
3. drink only mineral water 
4. our currency is bigger than them 100HKD=RM38+
5. if you're travelling via MRT to every places, there'll be lots of walking. so wear proper shoes
6. if you're planning to jln via MRT, once reach airport, pls buy OCTOPUS card (mcm Touch N Go) :  http://www.mtr.com.hk/eng/train/about_octopus_index.html

Flights fare

if thru AA- average for 2pax during sale i dpt RM500

if plus HM when she's 18mo - RM700

if via MAS- sy tatau la but i've seen from RM400+ one way

Places of Interests

1. Disneyland HK of coz - ticket can buy online or on the spot. prices here :http://park.hongkongdisneyland.com/hkdl/en_US/ticketsAndReservations/overview?name=OneDayTicketPage
2. The Peak - at a higher places, kena naik tram. they even have a package deal. Ada madame tussauds, HRC and it can be quite cold starts from evening. tiket can be bought on the spot.
3. Avenue of Stars - at Tsim Tsa Tsui : pls refer to my FB album for this. a nice place to walk around. even can naik Boat Ride/Symphony of LIghts
4. Hollywood road - ada the longest elevater at located at the town. and other shopping places to explore nearby is Times Square, Sogo, H&M etc
5. City gate outlet - factory outlet for all brands. shopping heaven. nearby airport. you can plan your itinerary either pi sini dulu or after the Disneyland as it use same MRT link to go Disneyland. (if u plan spend whole day ke Disneyland then go here next day)
6. nigt markets- ada 2 > ladies night markets at Mongkok, Temple St Night Market at Jordan
7. Ocean Park - it's like a water theme park. i didn't went here coz we all went duing cold weather, so not appropriate

Place to stay

Since we're are budget traveller, i didnt stay at the Hotel. 

1. rooms almost everywhere incl hotels are small, plus expensive. why spend more? plus we' just need B&B the least
2. i choose to stay at Mongkok Area. Tho it's ab it busy but i just love it and easy access to everywhere
3. if you ada budget lebih and prefer to stay hotel, there's alot to choose depending on your area ie : Mongkok/Tsim Tsa Tsui etc
4. if you wanna book hostel : go to hostelworld.com. and choose your room(prefer w ensuite bathroom, no BF but free wifi)
5. before book your room/hostel get the review at : tripadvisor/virtual tourist/etc

Weather 

since i travel during their cold time, no need to bring thick winter jacket la. appropriate sweater cukup

for kids maybe a proper and covered clothes for them (you should know your self and kids)

when it rains it can be too cold as low as 10C and there's where you'll be hungry all the time (LOL)

Foods 

1. for HM , i bring her cereals, instant mashed potatoes etc. if your kids kinda picky eater, bwkla rice cooker yg small. I never try this but heard others pernah
2. we ate mcD, more on western kinda foods ie Subway, Pret The Menger ( they have fresh fruits and breads and sandwihes everyday), pasta, ice cream etc. Halal foods like Pakistani ada tp kena google and cari. ada satu di Tsim Tsa Tsui, nearby Masjid, lupa the name. Kena ask around
3. if foods dlm Disneyland, just becareful, ada yg tak halal. if rasa ada doubt, don't even take the ayam (to me it doesnt look convincing tho amik nasi ayam, so just ate rice and soup w some veges and fresh fruits)

Tips for Disneyland

1. go as early as 10-11am, you'll need one whole day spending your time day/ even you kids hehe
2. there'll be only ONE MRT to go to disneyland. the train decorated with all these cartoons. once in, you know you're on the right train. Take the TUng Shun line
3. everyday the parade will be at 330pm (local time) so get ready for it
4. every night kot ada fireworks, it starts at 8pm tak silap. we didn't wait for that, too penat to walk dah
5. brings lots of cash/ u might over sepnd here (or credit card) in case you/your kids go mad shopping hahahah
6. ada port to park your stroller everytime you nak enter to the game area. Pic in my Fb
7. of coz ada nursery/changing room for babies
8. only at certain area  can smoke. daddies cannot simply smoke ok

2010 Holiday - HK #3 and 4

Day 3

Shopping Area + Madame Tussauds

Today's weather is damn cold. Hujan renyai in the morning. 10C at the outside. We're out for brunch at almost 11+am. We reached at Central dimana tempat tu macam kat area BB. All high end brands. Gucci, LV, MS bla bla. Manusia punyelah ramai plus it's the working day. We brunch at Oliver's Sandwiches after we failed to locate Subway. Kitorang went to Times Square which have nothing much, to SOGO yang sesak rase same je macam kat KL. Pun tak beli ape2..jln2 sampai almost ptg about 4pm. Decided just proceed to Peak Tram je

 

 

Journey mmg mencabarkan coz aku dah start tarik muka kepenatan kaki mcm nak tercabut. I can say that our holiday kalini 80% mmg berjalan je la. So we lepak kat Pret The Manger, our fav spot for no reason haha. Chill with our hot choc, latte, fresh baked breads and desert.

 

Ke Peak tram + Madame Tussauds cost you about HKD180(RM90+). macam naik tram ke Batu Ferringhi je. Inside, we managed to view HK overall panorama with their high rise buildings everywhere.

Madame Tussauds as usual ada patung artis2 yang famous. Then kitorang went to the next building yg ada shopping mall. Still hujan+so so windy. Genting Highland pun kalah yer. Nothing much kat mall tu tp ade HRC jela, a bit small and their stuffs pun tak banyak. Pukul 6 lebih kat HK dah mcm 7pm lebih di KL, gelap semacam so kite turun jelah.It's time for dinner. Kali ni mmg kakiku dah to the max la coz kepenatan dari pagi tadi berjalan je. Sampai nangis Ok. Thanks to hubby!!!

 

 

 

Our last nite kat HK , di spent ke ladies market. Somehow we felt mcm tak beli brg ape pun. So last money ni bolehla buy the souvenirs and to SASA.
Extra bag mesti ada so after we packed, off to bed for tomorrow's flight in the morning.

Day 4

Last day at HK, rasa macam sekejap je dah nak balik. Obviously i am enjoying the weather la. Being a preggers, we tend to sweat a lot kan but with this weather, it soothes me. Tapi sampai airport T2 menghampakan sket coz tak byk choices of food yang ada and bukak. So makan di plane jela jwbnye

That's my holiday this time been so far. It was yet another beautiful country to visit. Quite impressive with their train system and their disciplines. Negeri dorang population melimpah, but they still can Q while waiting for bus. Even for the MTR..kat KL semua pun main rempuh je. Another thing i've learnt and discovered while at negeri orang ni. Jauh perjalanan luas pemandangan kan!!!

2010 holiday- HK #2

Day 2

Disneyland

Today excited sket. We're finally off ke World of Cartoons, The Disneyland
a lil bit of facts about Disneyland

Ticket : HKD350 (RM158+) adult, maaf children tak tanye..brochure dirumah
How to get there : Mong kok>Lai King>Sunny bay>Disneyland (32 mins)
smua menggunakan MTR, to disney ada special train yer, so u wont be missed out

Weather been so great, cold but there's a slight sunshine. I'm quite fascinates with them. A huge place for this cartoons world. The staff's uniform were nice too. It follows the character their in. Even cleaner kedai makan pun pakai baju yang menarik. It represents the Disney. In fact, if korang nak smoke, harus pegi ke tempat2 yang tertentu yang telah disediakan astray tu. Do not simply smoke OK.

 

 

kat situ ada banyak deretan kedai represent Disney World. Memang lawa la. Their souvenir shops memang berderet, banyak stuffs and attractive pulak tu. Kita yang adult pun jadi budak2.  I've been into few games which not harm me and the baby inside.We played with buzz, pening gak pale aku nak shoot all this Z thingy but it was fun sangat.

The best place we went was to watched was at Philhar Magic. Korang if datang sini mesti watch this 3D movie. Their sound system memang superb. Even if in the movie ada hujan, you could feel the percikan air hujan. memang
 bestla..tak rugi masuk sini.

 

Of course we went did some shopping. Souvenirs for our loved ones. Barang quite mahal jugakla but at least it's original. You know when you see the 3d logo sticker on it. We don't buy much, for me just badge and fridge magnet

Jangan lupa tengok the parade at 330pm and the fireworks show at 730pm. We purposely missed the fireworks coz nak balik awal, weather been cloudy so don't wanna stuck there. Instead we heading home and have dinner at Pakistani restaurant. Malaysian pun ramai kat situ just that the place was a bit secluded.

 

 

Overall, you should go to Disneyland if you're at HK, a must place to visit
Satisfaction guaranteed!!

2010 holiday

As usual, here are my travelogue on my recent trip to HK. Details as follows:-

Date : 9-12 Jan 2010

Fly with : AA - RM320 per pax return

Stay at : Dragon Hostel, Kowloon (RM65/pax per nite)

Weather :  cold (10-18C)

Budgeted : RM1200/pax

Remarks : Once reached airport, pls buy OCTOPUS card , mcm Touch n Go je

HKD150 which includes HKD100 credit for travel. Can be used for MTR, busses, buy stuffs

Day 1

To ladies market

A place which is similar to our Petaling Street. Sells handbags, shoes, clothes, souvenirs etc. About 5 min walks from our hostel. Opens everyday till late nite about 12am. HK is known as City Of lights, so pepagi pun tak sunyi, ada je orang kat sana sini. Was wondering diorang ni tak tido agaknye. Jln sentiase penuh and bz

 

 

To Avenue of Stars

From MTR Mong kok stop at Jordan then from there kene jalan sket la. Intercontinental Hotel was located next to it je. And SOGO too. At this point, the weather was a bit windy so it's chill. The place similar to Walk of Fame kat Hollywood, ada cap tangan artis2 famous tu, tapi yang ni HK artist je la yer
Opposite this was the HK island, which filled with high rise building same as at the mainlan. akibat lapar and sejuk sgt, lepak di Starbucks sambil minum hot chocs and makan a bit to warm upkan badan..heh

To Nite Temple market

our dinner for tonite is only McD yang terletak about 5 mins walking from our place. beside it's kinda drizzling kat luar so maleh nak pikir byk..nak save energy for tomorrow's trip. Then we proceed to Jordan MTR station to jalan kaki to this place. The place kinda mcm PS gak..so kene ada bargain2 la. Tak belilah ape sgt pun lepas cuci mata then balikla. Banyak jugak mat saleh kat sini..
